BG Spotlight: Helen

Welcome to Background Spotlight, where I'll be featuring some of my favorite non-speaking characters in the pages of The Underburbs. These characters keep Underborough from being a desolate wasteland occupied only by its pro- and antagonists and their petty problems.

This is Helen Harpolopolous, first featured in Issue 4. She sits behind Angela and Shelley in Mrs. Grumbleby's science class. She is a harpy, a monster of Greek Mythology, hence the faux-Greek surname. I pretty much borrowed the design of the wild-haired harpy from Shantae, a little-known (but excellent, if Mr. Bozon is by some chance reading this) game on the Game Boy Color. My version wears clothes. Helen likes light clothing and open-talon shoes. She dislikes her feet being referred to as 'chicken-feet.'
